Ryan Leib, Director of Coaching
Ryan is the Director of Coaching for Briarwood SC. He is from Farmington, Maine and played his college soccer at the University of New Hampshire. He played professionally in the US for the Virginia Beach Mariners (’95-‘96), the Charlotte Eagles (’97-’01), and the Atlanta Silverbacks (’02). He has coached at the youth level from 1997-2002 in Charlotte, NC and in Birmingham since 2002. He coaches Briarwood Christian School Lady Lions since 2006. Ryan holds the NSCAA’s Premier, Advanced National, National, and Youth National coaching licenses. He enjoys developing coaches and players to use the game to impact others and his favorite verse is II Corinthians 4:18.
Jon Adcock, 99 Lady Ambassadors Gold
Coach Adcock has seen great impact on his kids and the team over the last several years through soccer. His enthusiastic style is a huge hit with the kids as they learn the game and what the Bible says about competition from him. He holds his USSF E license and continues to see great progress with his team and players from season to season. His desire is to see kids learn what it means to have a relationship with Christ and how that impacts all areas of our lives.
Raymond Butler, 96 Amassadors Blue
Coach Butler has been coaching since 1987 for BSC and other clubs and has been in Alabama his entire life. He holds the USSF D license along with the NSCAA National Diploma. He loves coaching because of his love for kids. He also loves bringing Christ into the mission of the team and teaching why it is so important to play for Him. His favorite Bible verse is Romans 5:15 and his favorite player is Steve Long.
Neil Richard Clement, 97 Ambassadors Gold
Neil is from Manchester, England and has been in Birmingham for 20 years. He grew up playing in England, and finished playing for his school team. Neil holds several coaching licenses, including the NSCAA Premier Diploma, Advanced National Diploma, National Diploma, Youth National Diploma, English FA Certificates in Psychology for soccer, Fitness for Football, and Laws of the Game, as well as a USSF B License. He has been with BSC for 11 years, and works with the 98 Ambassadors Gold. Neil loves helping the children develop strong character and good work ethic, and his favorite Bible verse is Colossians 1:17.
Chris Coggin, 98 Ambassadors Gold
Chris is from Birmingham, and has been part of the Birmingham soccer scene his whole life from U-8 to the State League D1. Chris’ coaching credentials include USSF Licenses E and D, along with NSCAA National Diploma, and National Youth Diploma. He has been with BSC for 13 years. Chris enjoys watching the children grow as players, as well as individuals, and his favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:11-13.
Dave Dresbach, 94 Lady Ambassadors Gold
Dave is from Bayville, NJ and has been involved in the game of soccer his entire life. As a youth player, Dave was a member of Florida ODP, and went on to play collegiately for Mercer University. After college, Dave played professionally in the USISL, as well as the ASL in Atlanta. Dave has extensive coaching experience including, UAB Women’s Assistant coach 1997-2000, USISL Jacksonville Fury Assistant Coach, staff member for both Alabama and Florida ODP, as well as several years at the youth club level. He holds the USSF B License and Manchester United Certification 2003. Dave has been with BSC since 2006. He loves coaching for the way he can impact lives through the game and his faith, and his favorite Bible verse is Ephesians 5:15.
Chris Frohock, 99 Ambassadors Gold
Chris recently joined Briarwood SC and has a wealth of soccer experience. He grew up in Franklin, TN and played his college soccer at Birmingham Southern College. Chris has been with Briarwood Soccer since 2006 and he enjoys watching teams learn to work together as well as helping build the creative flair in players. His favorite Bible verse is Philippians 1:6
Patrick Fitgerald, 97 Ambassadors Gold
Coach Fitzgerald has joins us after coaching youth soccer extensively in Huntsville and at Hoover Soccer Club. He coached the U15 girls AYSA state champions in 2003 at Revolution SC in Decatur. He hails from Memphis, TN where he had a phenomenal high school career. After playing collegiately at Belhaven College in Jackson, MS, he played professionally for the Los Angeles Lazers in the MISL. Coach Fitzgerald holds his D license and loves to impact kids lives through soccer. His favorite Scripture is Psalm 34.
Ryan Hoffman, 99 Lady Ambassadors Blue
Coach Hoffman hails from High Point, NC where he played in a great high school program at Wesleyan Christian Academy. He graduated from Samford University in 2009, where he played for their men’s club team. He holds the USSF E license and has coached in the Briarwood Christian School Lady Lion Soccer program. Coach Hoffman has a great heart for the Lord and wants to use the game of soccer to impact kids as ambassadors for Christ.
Jimmy Hollis, 93 Ambassadors Gold and 99 Ambassadors Blue
Jimmy is from Houston, Texas and has been in Birmingham 15 years. He grew up playing soccer and has a noticeable passion for the game. He played collegiately here at UAB and has been in the Birmingham soccer community for many years, including Mtn Brook Soccer Club and Vestavia High School. Jimmy holds the USSF D license. He has been with Briarwood SC since 2004 and enjoys helping players develop, as well as a love for the game. His favorite verse is Genesis 1:3.
Shawn Marlow, 94 Lady Ambassadors Blue and 98 Lady Ambassadors Gold
Coach Marlow joined Briarwood SC after seeing a window decal driving around town and inquiring about the club! He coaches the 94 Lady Ambassadors Blue and 98 Lady Ambassadors Gold. He is on staff with BSC and has a passion for helping the young ladies in our club, especially in the Hispanic community, grow as ambassadors for Christ. Shawn holds his USSF D license and was a part of the Ambassador Mission team to Belo Horizonte, Brazil in ’06, ’07, and ’10. His favorite passage in the Bible is Philippians 4:13.
Manuel Roldan, Skills Trainer
Manuel grew up in the country of Colombia developing his skills against some of the best players in South America. He played high school and college soccer here in the states before going back to Colombia to play professionally for Deportivo Independiente Santa Fe. He was a tremendous player at Berry College in Florida before playing professionally. As a skillful midfield player, he loves to see kids play the beautiful game with flair and creativity. He has a heart for teaching that to our players. Manuel and his family are preparing to go on the mission field full time to share the love of Christ and serve wherever the Lords takes them, We are excited Manuel will be doing all our individual skill training for our players.
Jeff Samoranski, 97 Lady Ambassadors Gold
Coach Sam comes to us from Pell City via Northern Virginia where he coached several high level teams and helped develop numerous players and coaches. He holds his NSCAA Premier Coaching Diploma, the USSF B coaching license, and the NSCAA Level II Goalkeeping license. He is a member of the NSCAA State coaching staff to help further the development of coaches for our youth players. He loves to watch players grow and develop. We are excited to have him work with our players and see the impact he will have on them.
Kara Samoranski, 97 Lady Ambassadors Blue
Coach Kara comes on staff as a former Lady Ambassador player where she played for our 91 team. She is studying at UAB and wants to use her competitive playing experience to influence the younger players in our club. She holds the USSF E license, she has a good soccer mind, and she is a great role model for the young ladies in our club.
David Sharp, 95 Lady Ambassadors Gold
Coach Sharp has been in the Birmingham soccer community for over 25 years. Originally from Colombus, Ohio, he came to Birmingham via Samford University. He holds his USSF C license and has coached at several clubs in the are including Vestavia SC, and Chelsea SC, where he was DOC for 10 years. He coached our 96 Gold boys team for several seasons. He loves molding a team together into a cohesive unit that works hard together and shows discipline. He is grateful the impact his coaches had on his life and desires to have that impact on the next generation of players. His favorite Bible verse is Phillipians 3:14.
Jon Spain, 93 Lady Ambassadors Gold
Coach Spain has been involved in soccer his entire life. He had a very successful paying career here in Birmingham and has been coaching with BSC since 2003. He holds his USSF D license as well as his USSF Goalkeeping coaching diploma. He has turned the 93 Lady Ambassadors into solid group of players that work hard, enjoy the game, and set a great example of what it means to be an ambassador for Christ. Jon has a heart for helping young players develop soccer skills and a strong sense of discipline.
James Steer, 96 Ambassadors Gold
Coach Steer comes to us from Sheffield, England where he grew up playing the game and most notably played for Chesterfield FC in his home country. He came to University of Montevallo to play his college soccer and has been working toward a career in full time coaching. He holds his USSF C license, is on the Alabama ODP staff, spent the summer of 2010 working with Toronto FC, and has been a wonderful addition to the BSC staff. He loves seeing players take what they learn in training and apply it in the game setting, he derives great coaching satisfaction from helping players develop their skill and ability and seeing their enjoyment of the game grow.
Mark Wallace, 00 Ambassadors Blue
Coach Wallace is a pillar in the soccer community in Birmingham. He has coached in the youth soccer community for the last 10 years developing some very good players and teams in that time. He played at James Madison University in Virginia before starting his coaching career. He is a 2-time state champion coach with the Briarwood Christian School men’s team and he holds his USSF D license. He spent 3 years in Northern Ireland with his family on the mission field using the global language of soccer to share Christ. His enthusiasm for kids and teaching them the game is infectious and his vast knowledge and experience is a great asset to our club.
Jason Woods, 99 Lady Ambassadors Gold
Coach Woods has been a part of the Birmingham soccer scene since 2000. He holds his USSF D and E coaching licenses. He has a passion to teach kids the beautiful game and has done that well for the last several years, most recently with our 99 Lady Ambassadors Blue team. He runs the Chelsea SC as well and has great understanding of what youth players need to reach their potential. He loves to build character into his teams and players and his favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13.
