Day Camp

LOCATION: Day Camp is held at YMCA Camp Hargis, located in Chelsea, AL, approximately 15 miles from Briarwood Presbyterian Church. The facilities are complete and modern, with a swimming pool, grassy recreation fields, an air-conditioned cafeteria, a beautiful chapel, an indoor recreation area, and a lake. The picturesque grounds have hiking trails leading to some wonderful and inspiring landmarks.

ACTIVITIES: Each session includes hiking, swimming, arts and crafts, canoeing, B.B. guns and archery. Bible stories and songs help children grow in their relationships with the world, the people around them, and the God who made us all. Lunches and snacks are provided each day.

COUNSELORS: A ratio of approximately six campers to each counselor ensures that each child will receive personal attention. Counselors receive training in all aspects of camp.

CHECK-IN: Monday 8:15 a.m. Campers and a guardian arrive at Briarwood Church’s Fellowship Hall for check-in and information.

Tuesday – Friday 8:30 a.m. Campers should arrive at meeting room.

CHECK-OUT: Each day 3:15 p.m. Campers arrive at the Briarwood Gym for check-out.

THURSDAY SPEND-THE-NIGHT: There is no extra cost and meals are provided. Campers bring sleeping bags on Thursday and return at regular Friday check-out at 3:15. An additional consent forms will be provided on Monday and must be returned by Wednesday if your child will stay overnight Thursday.

CAMP ATTIRE: Shorts, T-shirt, socks, and closed-toe shoes (lace-up or strapped Velcro). Attire should be very casual, and something that is okay if it gets dirty!

WHAT TO BRING: Please label everything!

· Swimsuit & Towel in a waterproof bag (each day of camp)

· Thursday Overnight: Sleeping bag & pillow, Toothbrush & toothpaste, Pad to sleep on & Pajamas

**No sports or fishing gear is needed.

A Note to Parents about CAMP BRIARWOOD's Sign-In & Sign-Out Policy:

Please note the following time change for Day Camp morning drop-off. Children should be dropped off by 8:15 a.m. on Monday morning for Camp Sign-In and 8:30 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday. Children who do not spend Thursday night at camp should be dropped off at 8:30 a.m. on Friday morning in room G101. The Friday morning bus will leave promptly at 8:45 a.m.

On the first morning of camp, please be sure to sign your child in and include ALL possible carpool drivers in the "Authorized To Sign Out" column when signing your camper in, as we make copies of these lists for the remainder of the week on the first day of camp. If you recognize a possible carpool name for your camper on the list Monday morning, please add the name(s) to your child's list before you leave your camper with their counselor on Monday.

A Driver's License will be required by all individuals (including the parents) picking up the child from camp when they sign the camper out each afternoon.
